Apex Legends Cosmetic Pricing Explained By Respawn. Apex Legends’ Monetization questions answered in a Reddit AMA.
Apex Legends is one of the most popular online first-person shooter games of this time. It has around 70 million players worldwide. Players can compete in a three-man squad with their friends or random players like most other battle royale games. The main motive is to land and find guns, shields, and other survival stuff to survive till last and kill all other players.
Apex Legends is developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It can be played in Play Station 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.
Apex Legends Cosmetic Pricing Explained
Director Level monetization guy of Respawn agreed to respond to a question about battle royale in an AMA. A normal Apex Legends skin costs around 20 dollars. x5hadau asked, “there’s gotta be a way to prevent the player from feeling cheated when they buy something”.
The Respawn responded that “Respawn is gameplay first.” “That’s why Legends are grindable and Legend Tokens are generally easier to get to unlock Legends (Yes, We know that has led to other challenges we have to fix. Math is harder than people think and when your assumptions are wrong, it’s hard to adjust).”
Respawn also said that creating cosmetics is harder than players expect, both because its team is smaller than those behind many other battle royale games (“As much as people think we can turn cosmetics out easily because our competition outputs content at a high rate, our team is much smaller and spends more time on our skins”), and because of the amount of behind-the-scenes work that goes into them. “It’s more expensive than people think in terms of the number of people and hours because people don’t factor in tons of back and forth on the concept, QA, ideation, creation, etc.”
They finished their statement by saying, “We want to try and serve as many players as we can for sure so we’re going to try things to learn what works.”
